چکیده
This study was carried out to prepare groundnut shell (GS) and eggshell (ES) into activated carbon (AC) characterize the AC using Association of Official Analytical Chemists (AOAC) American Standard for Testing Materials (ASTM) methods. The produced characterized for: pH, moisture content, volatile matter, ash fixed carbon, bulk density surface area. Surface functional groups morphology were also determined Fourier Transformed Infrared (FT-IR) Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) respectively. ranges following results achieved biomasses: Groundnut Activated Carbon (GSAC) Eggshell (ESAC) respectively: pH (6.80±0.101−7.80±0.011); content (14.10±0.101−12.90±.110%); matter (9.20±0.112−9.90±0.012%); (8.98±0.111−5.80±0.111%); (67.70±0.010−71.40±110%); (370.00±0.000−380.00−0.000 g/L); area (880.00±0.100−800.00±0.000 m2/g). agro-wastes have high contents low inorganic which make them viable adsorbents. FT-IR analysis revealed presence oxygen complexes such as carbonyls OH on ACs in addition good pore structures from SEM studies that could be precursors production. overall showed can optimally used effective adsorbents, thereby ensuring cheaper, readily available affordable treatment effluent, waste water oils.

متن کاملPreparation, characterization and phenol adsorption capacity of activated carbons from African beech wood sawdust
In the present study, different activated carbons were prepared from carbonized African beech wood sawdust by potassium hydroxide activation. The activated carbons were characterized by brunauer–emmett–teller, scanning electron microscope, fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and thermogravimetric analyzer. The phenol adsorption capacity of the prepared carbons was evaluated. The d...
متن کاملSelect metal adsorption by activated carbon made from peanut shells.
Agricultural by-products, such as peanut shells, contribute large quantities of lignocellulosic waste to the environment each growing season; but few, if any, value-added uses exist for their disposal. The objective of this study was to convert peanut shells to activated carbons for use in adsorption of select metal ions, namely, cadmium (Cd2+), copper (Cu2+), lead (Pb2+), nickel (Ni2+) and zin...
